What size of sequencer do you need? It depends on how many heat-strips (heating coils) are installed in your furnace/air handler. E.G., If you have three heater coils, you will need a 3-pole sequencer.
Problem: Poor airflow due to dirty air filters causes the furnace to overheat and damage the sequencer, heating coils, fan relay and the safety control switches.
Blower fan keeps running: A failing sequencer may have a "stuck" contact and keeps a heater coil and the fan and running... This situation is a widespread problem, all you can do is turn the circuit breaker OFF to stop it. You need to replace the sequencer and the fan relay (to be on the safe side)!
Note: make sure the FAN-AUTO-OFF switch on your thermostat is on "auto" (not in the "ON" position)!
There is another big handicap: a stuck sequencer contact powers one of the heater coils ON all the time, even in cooling mode!
The sad part: you may not even be aware of this, the result is a poor cooling performance and a high power bill!
Blower fan will not run: A failing sequencer may have a burnt contact and is unable to switch the fan and heating coils ON.
Solution: Install a new sequencer AND a new fan relay, just to be safe. Both are working under harsh conditions in a hot environment; they have just a limited lifetime!
